My art is inspired by the ever changing beauty of the mountains, hills, creeks, and wildlife in southwest Idaho where I live with my husband, dogs, and horses. My paintings attempt to capture the sacred connections between earth, sky, and all living things, balancing realism and abstraction.
I am a lifetime artist. While my formal education includes an MFA with Honors in sculpture and painting from Claremont Graduate School in California, my artistic endeavors date back to my childhood when I first saw an orange sun setting over the curve of the ocean and tried to capture it with crayons.
I do many preliminary sketches before I begin a painting and currently paint with oils on paper. I like the medium because it combines all the attributes of oil from transparency to opacity but has the spontaneity and challenge of watercolor.
I hope you will find the same peace and joy in my work that I have realized in creating them.
